PLIDA exams are necessary to obtain an internationally recognised certificate of your level of knowledge of Italian.
Dante Alighieri in Cape Town is authorised to administer PLIDA exams.
We generally offer up to two exam sessions a year, mainly for B1 level.
Abridged PLIDA B1 exam for citizenship applicants in 2020
Due to the Covid situation the Italian Ministry of Internal Affairs has authorised two special abridged B1 Citizenship Exam sessions.
These sessions consist of an oral exam only (no written exam).
The certificate issued to those who pass this abridged B1 Citizenship Exam differs from the regular B1 certificate, in that it doesn’t state the marks and is only valid for Italian citizenship applications.
Next special abridged B1 PLIDA Citizenship exam: 19 September
Please contact us if you wish to register for the September session.
You need to be able to converse in Italian at a B1 level to pass this exam.
If you are a beginner you will first have to take classes to cover the levels up to and including B1 (A1, A2 and B1).
