What we do

The Dante Alighieri Society and Italian School serves as a fundamental point of reference for preserving and promoting Italian language and culture around the world.

Located in the heart of the city, Dante Alighieri Cape Town runs courses of Italian at all levels and organises cultural events.
All our Italian School courses are currently online via Zoom.

Courses are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and they are conducted in a informal, fun and interactive atmosphere.
The school is also authorised to offer PLIDA exams sessions (for official language certificates such as B1 for citizenship).

Whether you wish to learn Italian for business or pleasure, we can help you improve your language skills at a level that suits your needs, thanks to:
• Dynamic, enthusiastic, experienced and highly qualified teachers
• A focus on real-life communication
• Exposure to a variety of enjoyable cultural events
• Our rich library and video library
• Our communicative approach: our classes are proficiency driven, therefore we provide our students with as many opportunities as possible to speak Italian and listen to spoken Italian.

Each level is taught over eleven weeks, terms generally start in January, April, July and October.
